Smile at Your Challenges -
It takes more than just going Gluten Free, drinking green juice,
and practicing Yoga to solve your problems
by Danielle Pashko

Book Description
After losing her mother to breast cancer and having an absent father, Danielle Pashko was living as a teenager on her own in Manhattan. She worked as a model to support herself, although much of her free time was spent studying yoga, massage, holistic nutrition and healing modalities. While later working as the "go to" practitioner for everyone's health issues she, ironically, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Her strongly ingrained philosophy of restrictive eating and physical discipline had to be questioned. “Was drinking green juice, going gluten free, veganism and a daily yoga practice a cure all?” Danielle believes that we can take all the external measures in the world to achieve health and happiness, but there are never any guarantees. Smile At Your Challenges is her personal story of overcoming unexpected obstacles (in all areas of life) and even having humor about it. We plan and God laughs, but there's always a reason behind our circumstance. Replete with anecdotes and observations about the human condition, this is a book that invites thoughtful consideration of our relationships with others, our relationship with a higher power and, most importantly, the ongoing relationship we nurture – or should be nurturing - with our own selves.

Our Book Review
After a sad and troubled start to her life the author is a wonderful example of how things can turn around, how you can achieve what you truly want in life and be happy.

Through her own experiences she guides you to think about what it is that you feel you are missing or that you need in order to feel satisfied and happy or even what it is that your ignoring, fearing it will hurt you in some way.  She explains that you can do as much as you want to try to be happy but it's the inner you, the very core of you, that needs to find true happiness before you will start to feel any real benefits.

'Love', 'community', 'social', 'time for yourself' - all things I've read before and highlighted that I need to improve and work on yet here I am again highlighting them.  It has certainly been a good push to look at those areas of need again and consider changes in all areas of life.

An empowering quick read with friendly advice to inspire you to find out who you really are and of course - to smile inside and outside!

About the Author
Danielle Pashko began her wellness career over fifteen years ago in New York City. After losing her mother to breast cancer as a little girl, optimizing her own health became an obsession. As a mature teenager living on her own in Manhattan (and modeling to pay the bills) much of her time was spent studying healing modalities. And at just 18 years old, Danielle was a practicing Reiki Therapist. She trained under a master teacher while also attending The Academy of Natural Healing for her certification as a Polarity Therapy practitioner. By the age of 21 she had graduated from The Florida College of Natural Health as a licensed massage therapist.  She continued building up a reputation as an energetic bodywork practitioner, studying and gaining many

Ironically, after years of living as a “Picture of Health” and becoming the go-to practitioner for everyone else’s physical problems, Danielle was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Her strongly ingrained philosophy of restrictive eating and physical discipline had to be questioned. “Was drinking green juice, going gluten free, veganism and a daily yoga practice a cure all?” While still continuing healthy dietary and lifestyle habits, her personal experience with illness opened a window of exploration to the relationship between emotions and the body’s wellbeing. Her conclusion was that the past chapters of our life are often a reflection of our present health. This prompted her to write the book Smile at Your Challenges.

Danielle has successfully overcome her physical setbacks and never takes how well she feels for granted. Her knowledge has led to lectures, articles and videos on healthy living for several publications including The NY Post, Yahoo Shine, The Jewish Week, Galtime, JCoach, Betty Confidential and NY Wellness Guide.

  3. This is definitely a book I need to add to my "to read" list. I am sure there are so many things in there that I know - I just don't make time to do.

  4. I generally stay away from self help type books but may make an exception for this one. It sounds like not only an inspirational read but one that may prove that there really is a rainbow at the end of every storm.
